About the Organisation
Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation.
The Sunrise approach involves Aboriginal communities taking part in controlling their own health. Everything from financial management and governance, staff selection and service delivery priorities are directed by the organisation's Aboriginal Board and Community Health Committees.
Servicing nine communities spread over 45,000 square kilometres, the Sunrise footprint covers Aboriginal communities that are some of the most disadvantaged in the Territory with some of the most complex health issues. About the Opportunity
Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation now has an extremely rewarding opportunity for a Director - Strategy and Development to join their dedicated, multidisciplinary team, on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role will see you responsible for the following areas of Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation:
- Strategic planning;
- Horizon scanning;
- Development of funding strategies;
- Development of community control empowerment and integration;
- Corporate governance (including compliance and Board support);
- Systems and informatics;
- External relationships and communication with specific stakeholders;
- Non-clinical research;
- Quality management system management; and
- Risk mitigation.
Your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Assisting with the design and review of strategic, business and other organisational level plans;
- Coordinating accurate, timely and comprehensive reports and managing a program of compliance assessment;
- Identifying risks and emerging issues of strategic interest and providing information to facilitate responses to these issues;
- Providing high-level policy advice to the CEO and the Executive Management Team and contributing to the development, implementation and review of policies;
- Overseeing the development of appropriate systems and informatics that inform non-clinical research; and
- Developing and implementing enhanced Aboriginal community control that addresses the social determinants of health and identified health priorities.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in a similar management or community development role and have qualifications that are commensurate with the position. You will also have demonstrated experience with empowering Aboriginal communities through health initiatives to produce community driven results and an understanding of the complexity of an Aboriginal community.
You will have a strong understanding of the key social determinants of health for Indigenous Australians and will have the ability to represent SHSAC at a local, regional, state, and national level.
The ideal candidate will have highly developed strategic vision, project management, project development and community development skills and a high level of strategic leadership and governance experience.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are a must, including the ability to communicate concepts clearly and adapt to the needs of the audience in a way that individuals, without training or knowledge in governance, audit and risk management can understand and implement.
SHSAC is seeking a self-motivated leader who displays strong interpersonal and problem solving skills. You will be passionate about the delivery of quality health services in the area and will enjoy working within a diverse community.
To be considered, you must be willing to undergo a National Police Check and Working with Children Check prior to commencing employment and hold an unrestricted driver’s licence.
