  • Unique permanent part-time opportunity with a passionate Aboriginal community organisation!
  • Attractive hourly rate circa $22.09 - $25.50 plus salary sacrificing!
  • Flexible hours to fit around your commitments for a great work/life balance!

About the Organisation

Manungurra Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) was established in 2006 to represent the interests of the Kunapa Estate group, who are recognised as traditional owners under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (Northern Territory) and as native title parties under the Native Title Act 1993. The MAC directors are all Kunapa people, and are recognised as the senior custodians and decision makers for Kunapa land. The Directors wish to create a future where their children enjoy the best of the modern Australian nation whilst retaining their unique identity and cultural standing as Kunapa people. To do this, they plan to play a strong and sustained role in the local economy and create jobs and income within the community.

MAC and their investment arm, the Manungurra Development Corporation (MDC), conduct community development projects on their land holdings in the Barkly region of the Northern Territory, in addition to providing education programs and health and emergency support to carers and family members who are seeking medical treatment outside the area. They also invest part of their wealth in property, financial institutions and in local businesses, including a local hotel.

About the Opportunity

Manungurra Aboriginal Corporation is currently looking for a hands-on and flexible Administration Officer to support their team in Tennant Creek, NT. This is a part-time, 9am to 3pm position Monday to Friday (25 hours a week), with some flexibility to work around personal or family commitments.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be the first point of contact for all guests or visitors, as well as providing administrative and clerical support across the organisation.

Some of your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Receiving visitors at the front desk by greeting, welcoming, directing and announcing them appropriately;
  • Responding and forwarding incoming phone calls and mail;
  • Processing and assessing purchase orders;
  • Recording and relaying messages to other MAC/MDC Staff;
  • Developing and managing the Manungurra Aboriginal Corporation record system.

About You

MAC is looking for someone who has proven experience in a similar administrative role. Although not essential, specific experience in Non-Government or Health Organisations will be highly regarded, as will experience in a front counter/backroom liaison role.

Key to your success will be a strong attention to detail and high-level organisational skills. You will be able to effectively manage a range of competing tasks and capable of handling an often varied workload.

Most importantly, you will be compassionate, emotionally mature, and capable of staying calm and level-headed as you navigate difficult situations and occasionally frustrated members of the community. Tennant Creek is a small, remote outback community, and critical to your success will be a willingness and physical ability to live and work in these conditions.

About the Benefits

The successful applicant will enjoy an attractive hourly rate circa $22.09 - $25.50 (negotiable with skills and experience) plus salary sacrificing and 2 rostered days off every 6 weeks.

This is not an easy role, and there will be challenging days, but also lots of laughter, genuine support, close relationships and the chance to help the community in a range of ways.
