Situated mid-way between Brisbane and Sydney, Durri is just 15 minutes from some of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast, and 35 minutes from the bustling hub of Port Macquarie!

Durri ACMS now has a unique opportunity for a Director of Medical Services to join their clinic in Kempsey, NSW on a full-time, 3 year contract, commencing February 2020. Hours will be Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm, with no after hours or weekend work required.

In this pivotal role, your primary responsibility will be to lead and consolidate a team of full-time and part-time General Practitioners that work across the Durri clinics, while also delivering general practice services within Aboriginal Health.

Working within a multidisciplinary team of Registered Nurses, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, Allied Health professionals and other Medical Specialists, your key duties will include:

  • Supporting the team of GP's and other Clinicians with medical supervision;
  • Coordinating team activity, including rostering to ensure adequate coverage in both clinics;
  • Acting as the go to person for all general practice queries;
  • Ensuring the clinics are achieving KPIs, in line with funding agreements;
  • Promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning;
  • Establishing and overseeing an organisational development program that fosters an environment collaboration and continuous learning;
  • Liaising with the GP team and acting as their representative when communicating with the CEO; and
  • Negotiating and engaging with various specialists and specialist services.

Although your primary focus will be on leadership and coordination, you will also be responsible for providing primary health care services to patients in the clinic as required.

About You

This is a leadership position that will see you contributing to strategic business planning and implementation as part of the Executive Leadership team at Durri. As such, you must understand the intricacies of clinic operations and be a confident communicator with the ability to provide effective leadership to a team of dedicated health professionals.

Pivotal to your success will be your experience gained in a Primary Health care environment and in supervising GP's at a senior level 

As you will be interacting with Indigenous clients, it's important you are able to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Any experience working within an Aboriginal community controlled health setting will be highly regarded.

Although well supported, you should be comfortable working autonomously on a variety of tasks and projects, effectively managing competing deadlines, whilst staying flexible enough to deal with urgent situations as required. 

Most importantly, to be considered you will have:

  • Significant experience as a General Practitioner delivering primary health care services;
  • A minimum of 5 years leadership experience;
  • A tertiary qualification in Medicine;
  • Be a FRACGP and/or FACRRM;
  • Current AHPRA registration with no restrictions; and
  • The right to live and work in Australia

Please note: It is a further requirement of the role that successful candidates have a Working with Children Clearance and are willing to undergo a National Police Check prior to commencing employment.
