About the Opportunity

Based at their Head Office in Adelaide, EREA Youth+ Central West Network now has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an Accountant / Payroll Officer to join the Network team supporting flexible learning centres in South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia. This is a 12 month contract, with the possibility of extension, with some flexibility of work hours (minimum 30 hours a week) depending on your needs. 

Reporting to the Business Manager, this pivotal accounting position will see you responsible for:

  • Maintenance of the general payroll functions, general ledger and subsidiary ledgers, periodic reporting, as well as assisting with the effective management of the financial operations of the Central West Flexi Schools Network;
  • Preparing, reviewing and processing Central West Flexi Schools Network fortnightly payroll;
  • Liaising with staff regarding payroll enquiries;
  • Updating and reconciling the general ledger for payroll and superannuation transactions;
  • Preparing month-end reporting using XERO Accounting software, including reconciliations and analysis for final sign off by the Business Manager;
  • Completing Annual Fringe Benefits Tax Return and monthly Business Activity Statements; and
  • Assisting with the preparation of the Annual Budget and audit working papers.

Please note: This role will require some travel to Melbourne and Brisbane for training purposes, as well as occasional site visits. 

About You

To be considered for this position you will have a tertiary qualification in Accounting and have significant experience using payroll systems.

The ideal candidate will have advanced computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel functions, as well as a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated knowledge of month-end reporting processes and working with tax legislation will be highly regarded. 

You will have exceptional interpersonal and intercultural communication skills that enable you to engage and invest in the community to build trusting relationships. You will be adaptable and able to work autonomously on a variety of tasks and projects, effectively managing competing deadlines whilst staying flexible enough to deal with urgent situations as required. 

Please note: Prior to commencement, you must obtain Working with Children Clearance.
