About Youth+ & FAME

Edmund Rice Education Australia Youth+ (EREA Youth+) is a network of flexible learning centres that offer young people an opportunity to reconnect with education in a setting that is non-judgemental, inclusive and flexible. With a focus on literacy and numeracy, all programming and learning activities are developed based on young people’s individual learning plans which are customised based on learning levels and what they require to re-engage.

Northern Flexible Learning is to the north of Adelaide and is an Outreach of FAMEFAME first began as a mobile service in the southern suburbs of Adelaide for young people from complex backgrounds who had disengaged from mainstream schooling. This has now been extended to the north of Adelaide and servicing those in the Playford Council area. Northern Flexible Learning creates a setting where young people can access a safe environment, experience a high level of wellbeing and receive educational support to help them achieve outcomes in their Personal Learning Plans (PLP). Northern Flexible Learning’s aim is to re-engage those young people who have for one, or may reasons, have disengaged from mainstream schooling.

About the Opportunity

EREA Youth+ now has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a full-time teacher to take on the position of Program Manager - Curriculum & Learning Inclusion to join the team at Northern Flexible Learning based at Elizabeth, approximately 40 minutes north of the Adelaide CBD.

Reporting to the Network Deputy/Network Principal, you will be responsible for enhancing, developing and maintaining the education, wellbeing and social inclusion responses for young people enrolled at Northern Flexible Learning.

This role will see you supporting teaching staff in the planning, preparation and delivery of effective, learning and teaching programs, based on individual learning levels, abilities and learning plans. You will play a key role in innovative curriculum development, learning outcomes and administrative processes, as well as providing leadership to staff. 

More specifically, some of your key duties will include:

  • Supporting staff to meet all legislative requirements with respect to young people with disabilities i.e. Disability Discrimination Act, Disability Standards for Education, National Consistent Collection of Data, National Disability Insurance Scheme;
  • Building the capacity of staff to understand diversity within the classroom and designing learning experiences that cater for individuals with specific needs;
  • Ensuring that young people identified as meeting the criteria for having a disability or high support needs are provided with a service that maximises their outcomes (academically, behaviourally and/or socially);
  • Ensuring that there is effective communication about the needs of Special Needs Students and teaching to parents and classroom teachers and any appropriate external agencies in supporting transitions; and
  • Innovative curriculum development and administration processes.

About You

To be considered for this position you must be a qualified teacher eligible for registration in South Australia, possess previous experience in curriculum leadership, have at least 5 years’ experience in the education profession and experience working with young people disenfranchised from mainstream education requiring specific classroom adjustments to support engagement in learning.

Your flexibility and adaptability will be crucial to your success in customising learning experiences to successfully navigate an ever-changing working environment where no two days are the same.

The ideal candidate will be highly independent and organised, using their creative solutions focus and collaborative working style to effectively bring staff together to deliver the best outcomes for both staff and students alike.

Please note: Prior to commencement, you must obtain a Working with Children Clearance. Some transporting duties may be required to support program activities for young people, and as such, a Current Unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence is essential, with Light Rigid classification, or willingness to obtain one.
