About the Opportunity

Kambala now has an exciting opportunity for a passionate Community Relations Officer to join their team in Kambala, Sydney. This role is located seven kilometres east of the Sydney's CBD is being offered on part-time basis (3 days per week).

Reporting directly to the Principal, you will be primarily responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships between the School and individual members of the community, including donors, School Council Members, volunteers, parents, old scholars, past parents, staff, grandparents and other supporters, through regular one-on-one contact, special events and mass communication.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Managing a portfolio of 100+ highly-rated donors and prospects, ensuring the effective cultivation, facilitation and closure of significant philanthropic gifts within a 24-month period;
  • Engaging and working with the Kambala Old Girls’ Union to ensure an inclusive and effective alumnae engagement program;
  • Implementing strategies and tactics to start cold relationships and move them through the donor continuum to a gift conversation;
  • Strengthening the Kambala brand among the community;
  • Actively demonstrating a commitment to Kambala's Mission, Vision and Values; and
  • Undertaking any other duties that may be relevant to the organisation.

About You

To be considered for this position you must be a proactive, confident and innovative individual, with high levels of creativity and professionalism. Tertiary qualifications in Community Development/Service or equivalent are not essential but will be highly regarded.

You will be building and establishing relationships within the local community with many different stakeholders, from Council Members, teachers and staff to external constituencies including parents, alumnae, donors and industry, therefore effective communication and interpersonal skills will be pivotal to your success.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in organising effective fundraising activities, prioritising prospects and participating in high-level strategies and gift discussions. 

You will be an independent and autonomous worker, displaying a high level of initiative with the ability to problem solve, set priorities and handle multiple projects effectively and efficiently.

Most importantly, you will thrive in a role where you can take the initiative to create innovative community events whilst working on existing Kambala events and relationships. As well as exercising good judgement and making informed decisions in ambiguous situations.
