About the Opportunity
Banana Shire Council is currently looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join their Infrastructure Services team on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Infrastructure Technology Manager, this is a hands-on role that will see you coordinating the planning and delivery of both internal and external infrastructure design projects within the Shire.
Your day to day responsibilities will include:
- Supervising, training and mentoring Infrastructure Technology team members;
- Investigating and reporting on issues related to the repair, maintenance and construction of Council’s infrastructure assets;
- Preparing construction plans, engineering computations, estimates and contract specifications for relevant infrastructure projects;
- Conducting Heavy Vehicle route assessments, level 2 bridge inspections and road safety audits; and
- Providing technical advice and strategies to internal or external customers on design plans, development standards, design requirements, and minor work projects.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role, you will have, at minimum, a diploma-level qualification in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Technology, Surveying or similar.
Not just a desk job, you will need to be comfortable getting out into the community, visiting sites and talking to a range of stakeholders as you coordinate a wide range of projects.
Whilst previous management experience is not essential, you will need experience in a similar, design-focused engineering role, and demonstrated skills in design software such as AutoCAD or similar.
Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience and a good understanding of OH&S principles, alongside excellent intercultural and interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
Please note: You will need to have, or be willing and able to obtain, a current 'C' Class Driver's License and construction White Card.
