About the Opportunity

GROUP now has an opportunity for a Project Manager/Senior Engineer to join their team in Mackay on a full-time basis, working both on-site and from home.

Reporting to the General Manager and depending on your skills and project requirements, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects are designed and delivered safely, and are fit for purpose. Projects will vary, up to about $2 million in scope.

Your day to day responsibilities may include:

  • Manage design and project teams, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers across a portfolio of projects;
  • Monitor the quality of projects, and provide cross-project technical or design support/design sign off;
  • Establish clear and achievable project scope, deliverables and objectives, reporting on progress as required;
  • Cost tracking, project financial management and reporting throughout the project execution phase;
  • Regular communication and ongoing relationship building with clients and other key stakeholders; and
  • Identification of resource requirements, planning and management.

About You

To be considered for this position you will either have demonstrated experience in engineering Project Management roles, or significant experience as a design engineer in Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering with relevant skills in design, drafting, and engineering office management.

Whilst professional engineering or project management qualifications will be highly regarded, GROUP welcomes applications from experienced industry specialists with demonstrated track records, trade backgrounds and a relevant Associate Diploma or Certificate in engineering or project management.

It is essential that you are results-driven, highly autonomous, and able to effectively manage your work and project requirements to ensure that projects are delivered on-time, on-budget, and on-specification.

You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt these skills to the needs of different stakeholders, with the negotiation skills and needed to manage occasionally difficult conversations or situations to achieve a successful outcome for all parties.

A sound working knowledge of project management software and the Microsoft Office suite will be required. Experience with modelling software and CAD drafting capability would be an advantage.

You must currently hold or be able to complete a Coal Board Medical and gain the Coal Industry inductions required to work in the QLD Coal Industry.
