About the Organisation
The Centre for Muslim Wellbeing (CMW) is a newly established not for profit organisation focussed on recognising and assisting with responses to improve health and wellbeing issues within the Muslim community, initially in Victoria but with a longer-term view across all of Australia.
Their comprehensive model includes acting as a conduit to assist Muslim community members to access mental health and other social support services, provide wellbeing education and training by coordinating mental health awareness workshops, cultural competence training and social media campaigns and accumulating evidence to inform policy, research and support initiatives.
About the Opportunity
The Centre for Muslim Wellbeing now has a unique opportunity for a driven Executive Officer to join their innovative organisation on a full-time basis in Melbourne, VIC. This role will be on a 6-month contract initially, with the possibility and option to extend.
Reporting directly to the CMW Board, you will form an integral part of the Senior Management Team and will be responsible for contributing to and being accountable for development and delivery including in matters of compliance, community communication and finance. The role includes supervision of project management and support activities being delivered by the Project Officer (PO).
Some of your key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to)
- Ensuring appropriate project documentation is maintained, reports and briefs are prepared and submitted in a timely manner and all other outcomes achieved to quality standards, such as will support recurring qualification to funding sources wherever possible;
- Developing and implementing a program of ongoing social media strategies to promote awareness of CMW;
- Managing the creation, installation, maintenance and appropriate upgrading of a website presence for CMW in line with the CMW strategy;
- Liaising with The Board around significant content development, installation and upgrade stages;
- Building and maintaining key relationships to have ongoing funding for sustainability; and
- Developing strategy with and for the CMW board, inclusive of strategic aspect, business cases and reporting.
Please note: The successful candidate will be in charge of setting up their own office, with the ability to work from home if you desire.

About You
To be considered for this position, you will need to hold relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Management, Health Care or similar and have at least three years of senior managerial experience. Ideally, you will have experience working in the not for profit sector or a community services role, with experience in government funding.
An understanding of cultural complexity and sensitivities or experience with a diverse community is fundamental to the role, ideally within the Muslim community.
CMW is looking for someone who is innovative with a genuine interest and commitment to making this role their own. You will bring a ‘can-do’ attitude, a wide variety of experience and an ability to cultivate innovation to this exciting opportunity. You will be capable of working autonomously whilst staying flexible enough to support the team with their roles, as required.
In addition to the above, you will also need to be a friendly and adaptable individual with highly developed communication skills. You will be able to develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and have demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills.
Prior to commencement, the successful candidates will hold (or willing to obtain) the following:
- A current, unrestricted Driver's License;
- A current Working With Children's' Check; and
- A current National Criminal History Record Check.
