About the Organisation

Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (AHAC) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region.

Anyinginyi consists of five different sections (Health Centre, Corporate Services, Public Health Unit, Sports and Recreation, and Piliyintinji-Ki Stronger Families) which allows them to have an holistic approach to health ensuring that clients' physical and emotional health and wellbeing is given the utmost priority.

Anyinginyi's vision is Aboriginal people in the Barkly region enjoy equity in health status with that of other Australian citizens. About the Opportunity 

Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation currently has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Medical Services Director to join their team based in Tennant Creek.

As a member of the Anyinginyi Executive Leadership Team and reporting to the General Manager, this position will see you managing the staff and resources of the Anyinginyi Health Services (Health Centre, Rural and Remote and Allied Health), to ensure a high standard of care is provided in a culturally responsive manner. You will work closely with fellow Medical Officers in servicing needs for Anyinginyi clients and ensure day to day operational management of medical services as required. You will also support Medical Clinical Governance and participate in continuous quality improvement within the Health Centre.

More specifically, some of your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring the delivery of medical services within allocated resources, activity targets and key performance indicators;
  • Actively participating in developing and monitoring clinical governance, and reviewing and evaluating the quality and timeliness of clinical services;
  • Working with other health agencies to ensure integrated and cohesive services occur at Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation, and;
  • Leading and participating in region-wide initiatives around Primary Health Care governance as required.

About You

To be considered for this position, you will hold current (or be eligible to obtain) registration with the Medical Board of Australia. You must also have recognised clinical experience in and/or postgraduate qualifications commensurate with clinical duties and medical administration, preferably in an Aboriginal Health Community Controlled environment.

Demonstrated experience in the application of continuous quality improvement principles including change management and the implementation and evaluation of integrated clinical governance strategies will also be essential.

As this is a leadership role, exceptional communication/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate sensitive and complex subjects to a diverse audience is a must. You will also need to possess current knowledge of legislative obligations for Equal Employment Opportunity, Disability Services, Occupational Health and Safety, and the Freedom of Information Act and understand how these impact on employment and service delivery.
