In light of the current situation with COVID-19, BRAMS remains proactive in ensuring their staff are able to engage in work that is safe and practical. Processes have been put in place to ensure that the successful candidate is onboarded successfully into the organisation and supported in relocating.
Pending additional Government updates, you will be required to quarantine for 14 days on arrival, which will be fully paid. BRAMS will arrange for food and other essential items to be delivered during this time. You may be asked to conduct Telehealth appointments during this isolation period.
Established in 1978, Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia. Committed to the core principles of Aboriginal self-determination, access, equity, empowerment and reconciliation, they are an Aboriginal community owned and controlled health service that provides holistic, culturally appropriate curative services as well as integrated preventative programs.
With a strong governance structure and comprehensive strategic plan, BRAMS continues to grow and expand their offerings to ensure they can achieve their vision of Healthy People, Strong Communities, and Bright Futures.
A GP Opportunity with a Difference
Due to ongoing growth, BRAMS has both short-term and long-term opportunities for General Practitioners to join their team in Broome on a full-time basis.
This is a hands on and highly varied role that will see you working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive primary health care services to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander clients and families.
Services are delivered with the "bigger picture" view in mind, and you'll be responsible for providing holistic care from both the clinic and outreach locations, which vary from schools, prisons, nursing homes, palliative care and more. You will be supported to grow and pursue any specialities in these areas or others that may interest you.
To be successful, you will be a fully qualified General Practitioner who has, or is eligible for, full registration with AHPRA. Applications are encouraged from both experienced or recently qualified GPs, with significant support structures in place for those who have just finished their vocational training years.
Previous experience working in remote areas or with Aboriginal communities is not essential, providing you are strong communicator and able to provide care to patients in a culturally appropriate manner.
Not a typical GP clinic, it is crucial that you can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team of Doctors, Aboriginal Health Workers, Registered Nurses, Health Promotional Workers, and a variety of Allied Health Professionals, establishing strong working relationships with these internal staff and other health providers in the area.
