Formed in 2017 from the merger of several state Asthma Foundations, Asthma Australia is the peak body supporting people living with asthma, working with health professionals, researchers and governments to deliver evidence-based prevention and health strategies to more than half a million people each year.

About the Opportunity
Asthma Australia now has an exciting opportunity for a driven Manager to join their team as part of a full-time, 2 year contract. This role is ideally based in their Chatswood, Sydney office however the Canberra office may be considered.
Leading a small team of staff across the NSW and ACT locations, you will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of key Asthma Australia initiatives, including state-based and nationwide projects, maintaining strategic partnerships with health based organisations and government bodies to improve the standard of care delivered to people with asthma.
These key initiatives include:
- Supporting the delivery of nationwide programs - you will be collaborating with other key stakeholders and colleagues across Asthma Australia to deliver and report against nationally relevant projects and programs matched to your specific skills sets and knowledge,
- State specific programs NSW and ACT - You will be working closely with the state teams to identify outcomes and deliverables, develop workplans, and report against NSW and ACT-specific grants and deliverables. This will also include providing hands-on project management support.
Your general responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Delivering regular reports on project progression and budgets, according to relevant funding requirements;
- Collaborating on new funding opportunities and partnerships across the government and non-government sectors;
- Building and maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders at the government and community level;
- Working collaboratively with other Asthma Australia staff to share information, drive innovation, and monitor service impact; and
- Providing input into the development of new key services, position statements, and polices as required.
About You
To be successful in this role you will need demonstrated experience with larger-scale or state-wide projects or programs, and have a strong background in the health sector, including an understanding of the impact of chronic conditions on people who experience them.
Highly flexible and confident in your ability to work across multiple projects and tasks, from managing federal and state government requirements to administering projects, you'll be willing to take a hands-on approach as needed, and not afraid of dealing with new or unforeseen factors if and when they occur.
Whilst not essential, a qualification related to health promotion, education, public health or project management will be highly regarded, as would experience in a not-for-profit environment.
The ability to assess and prioritise competing demands will be crucial, as you manage a range of projects and programs across a variety of funding agreements. You'll have an in-depth understanding of the project management process, from design and development to implementation and evaluation.
You will need exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build strong partnerships and working relationships with federal and state-level government departments, primary health networks and more. Previous staff management experience would be beneficial, but Asthma Australia is open to supporting you to grow these leadership skills, provided you are willing to learn and confident in your ability to do so.
