About the Opportunity

Due to ongoing demand, RKF ES now has two full-time opportunities based in Gladstone or Mackay for Senior Structural Engineers. These roles will initially be offered as 12-month contracts, with potential for extension into full-time permanent positions at the end of that period. 

As part of the RKF ES Team, you will be fully supported in this role as you deliver unique, technical engineering solutions to their clients in the region.

As well as conducting desktop engineering design and analysis tasks, the role requires that you will conduct site inspections, audits, and physical testing of structures in varying conditions.

You will also work with various clients to help manage the maintenance and operation of their assets and infrastructure across several sites in the region. This will include input in developing strategic management plans, remediation designs for degrading structural components and site assistance during shutdowns and outages. 

On a day-to-day basis your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Undertaking detailed site condition audits and investigations of steel and concrete structures;
  • Preparing and analysing detailed company reports including structural investigations, concrete and steel condition audits and relevant repair strategies;
  • Managing the engagement and performance of external contractors and suppliers;
  • Expanding RKF ES’ presence through effective stakeholder management;
  • Managing ongoing critical projects with a key focus on safety and quality; and
  • Undertaking structural design including computer-based analysis of mining/marine/transport infrastructure.

About You

To be considered for the position you will need to hold tertiary qualifications in Civil/Structural Engineering, with at least 5 years demonstrated experience in structural design and analysis, site management, concrete and steel inspections, construction support and/or asset integrity/reliability engineering. You must also hold or be working towards your Chartered Professional Engineering status, and have an understanding of/experience working on major construction projects, with at least a portion of your experience gained within either the mining or ports sectors.

Any experience using structural analysis software packages such as SpaceGass and Strand7 and/or working with yard machine tracks will be highly regarded.

You will be comfortable conducting site investigations, condition assessments and writing technical reports and be willing/able to travel for site inspections as required.

Attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a sense of pride in your work will be essential, as you will be working autonomously with support from other offices.
