MoneyMob Talkabout is a not-for-profit organisation currently undergoing a period of unprecdented growth, both in size and opportunity, supported by their dedication to delivering a range of financial and community support programs with and for people in remote Indigenous communities. 

Their Money Hub in the APY Lands, which has operated since 2012, provides a one-stop shop for local community members to interact with the broader economy in a safe and supportive environment. Teams also visit other communities in South Australia from Pipalyatjara to Indulkana providing services on an outreach basis.

About the Opportunity

Due to a period of rapid growth, MoneyMob Talkabout now has an integral opportunity for a Community Services and Program Manager to join their team, based in Alice Springs, NT on a full-time fixed term contract to 30 June 2022.

Working closely alongside the Managing Director with a view to assuming Senior Executive Leadership, this big picture focused role will see the successful candidate developing and implementing a model of practice for MoneyMob's Financial Wellbeing Services (FWS) programs while leading an expanding team of FWS employees dispersed throughout Alice Springs and the APY lands.

The key areas of responsibility will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Undertaking program planning, reviews/audits and evaluations, liaising with and reporting to funding bodies;
  • Providing high quality supervision and coaching for staff, ensuring individual and team performance measures are met;
  • Developing, implementing and upskilling staff in a model of practice which includes: relevant service policies; establishment of a counselling framework for financial wellbeing services that is trauma informed suited to an environment where little therapeutic counselling is available; considers professional development needs of team members;
  • Developing a supportive model for prioritising Aboriginal employment in collaboration with the senior management team;
  • Representing MoneyMob in relevant professional forums;
  • Reviewing service data to discern patterns which can support advocacy campaigns and policy positions;
  • Developing annual program budgets in line with contract and organizational parameters; and
  • Applying for funding to support the organisation's strategic plan.

About You

This is Senior Management Opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career with a view towards assuming Executive Leadership.

An experienced leader, the successful applicant must have tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Psychology, Family Therapy or a closely related discipline as well as a mixture of at least 5 years of general business experience (i.e. managing staff) and senior management experience dealing with service planning, implementation, management and/or compliance in the context of working with vulnerable populations/communities, ideally Indigenous people.

MoneyMob Talkabout is seeking a driven and forward thinking Community Services and Program Manager with highly developed relationship and people management skills and a commitment to addressing systemic issues at a complex social level.

The successful applicant must also demonstrate previous experience leading, motivating, and developing staff, along with notable experience working in Community Services (ideally within remote aboriginal environments/populations with complex needs).

To succeed in this position, you'll be passionate about supporting Aboriginal People to find culturally appropriate ways to develop financial wellbeing and resilience. You will bring an open minded, creative approach to improving the services offered by MoneyMob Talkabout, with the confidence and experience to blaze a new trail where you see opportunity.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to communicate/share knowledge with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and to represent the organisation in public forums, will be pivotal to your success in this role. You'll also be proactive in maintaining a big picture focus on improving economic empowerment as a key element of individual and family oriented social wellbeing.

As an integral role within an expanding organisation, you'll be keen to work closely alongside the current Managing Director in a professional and constructive way to provide education and insight about best practice in running a culturally competent, high performing service.

Most importantly, MoneyMob Talkabout is looking for someone who is community-focused and dedicated to advancing into a Senior Executive / CEO position

Please Note: This position requires frequent travel via 4WD vehicle from Alice Springs to APY lands, spending blocks of time living away from home. To be eligible for consideration, you must hold a current manual Driver's License and be able to drive 4WD vehicles independently on remote roads. Employment will also be subject to a National Police Clearance and Working with Children check.
