About the Opportunity

inTouch is currently looking for a passionate and experienced individual to join their Sector and Community unit as Team Leader (Sector Development). Based in Melbourne, working across their Richmond and Dandenong locations, this is a full-time, fixed-term contract until June 2021, with potential for extension, subject to future funding.

Responsible for approximately 4 direct reports, you will be overseeing the development and delivery of inTouch's sector development work, which aims to build the capacity of professionals in the service sector to reduce the harm of family violence, with a focus on culturally responsive family violence practice and the specific needs of migrant and refugee communities.

Some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Coordinating the development, implementation and maintenance of the unit’s training and capacity building plan;
  • Providing leadership to the team including budgeting and reporting, staff recruitment and supervision, development of team plan, individual work plans and performance appraisals;
  • Developing strategies for monitoring and evaluating the quality and impact of training or capacity building initiatives;
  • Identifying any gaps or opportunities for new training areas or emerging areas of focus, contributing to project submissions as required;
  • Building effective working relationships with relevant government or community organisations and external agencies; and
  • Supporting the Executive Leadership Team in developing and maintaining a strong strategic focus that aligns with broader sector reform.

COVID-19 Update: In light of ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in Melbourne and greater Victoria, inTouch have implemented processes to assist all staff operate safely and effectively, with a mixture of both home and office-based work being undertaken where possible.

About You

To be considered for this position you will need a certificate IV in Training and Assessment, with significant experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of training programs. An experienced leader and effective mentor, you will have strong management skills but be willing to step in and act as a hands-on member of your team wherever needed, due to high demand or during periods of absence.

Any experience, or an additional qualification, in a community services, social work or health promotion related field would be highly regarded, but is not essential provided you can demonstrate an understanding of the family violence sector and are willing to expand your knowledge and skills in this area.

Your project management experience will be essential, along with sound planning and organisational skills, and the ability to effectively manage competing tasks and priorities. Confident making decisions, you'll be a highly strategic thinker and able to see the 'bigger picture' of your work, without losing sight of the finer details.

An engaging and authentic communicator, you will be able to build strong, positive relationships with a wide variety of both internal and external stakeholders. Comfortable navigating sensitive situations or conversations, you will have the flexibility needed to adapt your approach to each individual, able to relate to and communicate with people from all walks of life and a variety of cultures.

Finally, you will be a firm believer in innovation and continuous improvement, genuinely passionate about social justice, and committed to supporting migrant or refugee women and children. You will have an understanding of the gendered nature of family violence, specifically in the context of multicultural communities, and be committed to working within an intersectional feminist framework.
