About the Xavier Flexi Schools Network
The Xavier Flexi Schools Network (XFSN) operates 4 schools - The Centre Education Programme, Inala Flexible Learning Centre, Ipswich Flexible Learning Centre and Townsville Flexible Learning Centre to support young people with a range of complex educational and social needs. Part of Edmund Rice Education Australia, the centres offer a full-time, multi-year secondary education program for students who have disengaged from mainstream schooling, and may be experiencing a range of difficulties, from homelessness to mental health issues.
Offering innovative, flexible and holistic teaching and learning practices, the centres are able to support students in identifying and achieving goals as they transition to adulthood, including the pursuit of employment, further education and training, and improved social connectedness.
About the Opportunity
The Xavier Flexi Schools Network is currently looking for a full-time Risk and Compliance Officer to join their team in Paddington, Brisbane Qld.
Reporting into the Business Manager, this is a hands-on role that will see you responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the Risk Management Framework and relevant policies or procedures, managing day-to-day risk mitigation activities to ensure that the network meets all legal, quality and ethical compliance requirements.
You will be ensuring compliance across XFSN's locations, which will also include a school located in North Queensland.
Your day-to-day duties will include, but will not be confined to:
- Coordinating training and ongoing support to ensure staff are aware of compliance needs and have the skills necessary to manage and assess risks;
- Managing, developing and updating the CompliSpace platform, including overseeing the implementation of further CompliSpace modules;
- Monitoring any changes in school activities, ensuring that risks arising from any significant changes are considered within the risk framework; and
- Supervising school WH&S Officers, managing WorkCover cases and Return to Work programs as well as WH&S audits.

To be considered for this position you will have demonstrated experience in a similar risk, compliance or assurance role, preferably in the education sector. Working with centres and staff across the network, you will need to be able to manage your time effectively and have great communication skills, able to establish productive relationships across XFSN and relevant stakeholders from Edmund Rice Education Australia.
Flexible and able to adjust your approach to each situation, you'll understand that processes won't always be 100% foolproof, particularly as our Network engages with young people from a variety of backgrounds and situations. A strong team player, you'll be collaborative and willing to work with staff to find the best approach or pathway, explaining the reasoning behind decisions or processes as needed to ensure everyone is 'on board' and working together.
Experience with the CompliSpace database system would be highly regarded, though not essential provided you have strong computer literacy, demonstrated database experience, and are confident using a range of software to analyse data and prepare reports.
Please Note: You will need to have a current driver's license, with access to a reliable vehicle, and hold, or be eligible to obtain, a current Blue Card prior to commencing.

You would also receive an annual $5,000 travel allowance, to cover car and petrol expenses.
Though you'll be joining a well-resourced and highly respected organisation, as part of Edmund Rice Education Australia, you'll enjoy the benefits of a small, genuinely dedicated team, with great autonomy and ongoing opportunities for professional development.
