About the Opportunity

Sharpe & Abel now has an exciting opportunity for a self-driven junior associate to join their team in Richmond, VIC on a full-time, permanent basis.

Reporting to the Head of Delivery, this role will primarily be responsible for assisting senior lawyers in delivering high quality legal services to a range of industrial and industrial technology clients. 

As an integral member of the team, you will also have the opportunity to assist clients directly. If you are a go-getter with a sense of curiosity, you can gain valuable knowledge and experience across all areas of the business with full support from your expert team!

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Identifying relevant legal principles and applying them to individual cases;
  • Drafting contracts for new business models;
  • Owning the management of disputes, including by understanding and obtaining the required evidence; and
  • Maintaining strong, professional relationships between the firm and clients in all interactions.

 

About You

To be considered, you must have a tertiary law qualification with demonstrable post-graduate experience in commercial or corporate litigation.

If you are based in Australia, you must have an existing practising certificate and a minimum of 1 year post-graduate experience. If based overseas, you must be qualified to practice in England and Wales, and have (or be eligible to obtain) a practising certificate.

You will need to be technically competent in obtaining relevant facts, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents and planning, managing and progressing legal matters. As you will be working on a distributed model, you must have a high level of computer literacy with the ability to effectively utilise a number of communication channels to ensure that nothing slips through the cracks.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong sense of ownership over your work, as well as the development of your skills and competency. You should be self-motivated and driven towards finding solutions for clients, as well as seeking out opportunities for learning and improvement. Your willingness to go above and beyond in order to meet required standards will be core to your success.

Importantly, you must be a strong communicator who is able to comfortably liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
