The Point Restaurant is an award-winning waterfront venue that offers a relaxed dining experience, coupled with breathtaking views of the stunning waterways and sunset. Located in beautiful Port Stephens NSW, only a 45 minute drive from Newcastle, The Point is renowned for their extensive seasonal menu focusing on local seafood and simple, clean flavours.

With a total capacity of 120 diners, the restaurant has a fantastic reputation for quality, uncomplicated food, with fresh produce sourced both locally and Australia-wide to ensure only the very best ingredients are served.

About the Opportunity

In the midst of an exciting growth period, The Point is now looking for a passionate Head Chef to join their well-respected restaurant in Soldier's Point, NSW on a full-time basis.

A hands-on role leading a motivated and dedicated team, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality food, regularly updating the menu with new offerings or seasonal specials and working with local suppliers and the restaurant manager to source diverse, fresh produce each day.

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Maintaining the restaurant's high standards of customer service;
  • Ensuring the kitchen operates within goods/operational budgets;
  • Rostering, mentoring and managing the kitchen staff;
  • Fostering a culture of collaboration and respect, including both front and back of house teams;
  • Monitoring the quality of food and working alongside an experienced kitchen team; and
  • Actively seeking opportunities to elevate The Point's offerings, with a focus on innovation and a quality customer experience.

About You

Not a desk job, you'll need to be comfortable handling the heat in the kitchen, working alongside your team to prepare quality meals for every diner. A key part of your role will be training, motivating and building upon our existing team as the business continues to grow from strength to strength.

A strong background in fine dining and fresh seafood will be key, bringing with you a genuine respect for the products and suppliers you'll be working with, and a commitment to working with only the best produce available.

A Certificate III or IV in Cooking, or equivalent is essential, with a food safety certificate an advantage. You'll also need a current, valid driver's license.
