About the Organisation
Cooinda Village opened its doors in 1969, to men and women who, through age or circumstance could not care for themselves at home and needed to be housed in comfort and looked after with love and care.
Cooinda Village, meaning "Happy Resting & Meeting Place", was the cumulation of an idea developed by a number of citizens and the service clubs of Benalla who first met in 1965 to explore the opportunity of providing citizens of Benalla and the surrounding rural community with a first class aged care facility.
Today Cooinda Village is a progressive organisation actively researching the needs of aged people and developing our facility to meet the needs of the community. The facility offers 78 single rooms for low, dementia and high care residents, sensitively arranged in a garden setting. In addition to the Hostel and Nursing Home style of accommodation Cooinda Village offers 55 units to people who are able to live independently, with more being added progressively. A team of professional staff is in attendance 24 hours a day. The facilities and services have expanded over the years, but the friendly and talented staff ensure that Cooinda Village still means "Happy Resting & Meeting Place".
