Psychiatric Disability Services of Victoria (VICSERV) Inc. is the State's peak body for Psychiatric Disability Rehabilitation and Support Services.

The organisation's member agencies in Victoria provide housing support, home-based outreach, psychosocial and pre-vocational day programs, residential rehabilitation, mutual support and self help, employment, training and support, carer education, respite and advocacy.

About the Opportunity

VICSERV is in the process of rewriting current training material, in line with changes in sector practice and with the new Community Services and Health 08 Training Package. As a result, the organisation has a fantastic opportunity for two Training Courseware Developers to join its welcoming team in Elsternwick. These are six-month contract positions.

The primary purpose of this role is to develop the new Community Services 08 training programs to support the PDRS sector. These programs include Certificate IV in Mental Health and Diploma of Community Services (Alcohol and Other Drugs and Mental Health).

Reporting to the Development Manager: Training, in consultation with the PDRS sector, the key deliverables of this position are to:

  • Design and develop PDRS sector specific training programs for VICSERV members and clients
  • Ensure that individual training programs are designed and developed in line with AQTF standards, Wodonga TAFE standards, VICSERV design framework, Community Services and Health 08 Training Package and PDRS Sector needs
  • Work with the Project Manager (Courseware Development) to respond to PDRS sector training needs to ensure that appropriate training is developed to meet specific worker and organisation needs
  • Assist with the identification of training needs and opportunities in the PDRS sector to assist in the development of the courseware
  • Liaise with, and coordinate, administration staff regarding the preparation and development of the courseware
  • Develop the assessment processes, administration and record keeping related to the Certificate IV in Mental Health and Diploma of Community Services (Alcohol and Other Drugs and Mental Health) programs according to Wodonga TAFE and AQTF quality frameworks

This role requires candidates with demonstrated skills and knowledge in instructional design, courseware development, and accredited training and assessment. You will require a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) and the ability to develop quality instruction, interactive activities and training material.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team, are essential qualities for this role.

You will also need a current driver's licence.

Tertiary qualifications in the areas of human services (e.g. mental health, social work or alcohol and other drugs) or instructional design will be highly regarded but are not essential.

The successful applicants will receive an attractive remuneration circa $40 / hour (negotiable depending on experience and qualifications). Furthermore, salary packaging options are available with the potential to significantly increase your take-home pay.
