About the Organisation
The Victoria Daly Shire Council became an entity on the 1st July 2008 through the amalgamation of 8 Northern Territory community councils covering an area of 168,000sqkm, an area approximately twice the size of Tasmania. Council's aim is to strengthen its communities with local people delivering shire services to their own communities with the skills and knowledge of their own culture, community and people.

Katherine, with a population of over 10,000, is situated 300 km southeast of Darwin in the "Top End", the third largest community in the Northern Territory. About the Opportunity
Victoria Daly Shire Council currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Night Patrol Manager in Katherine, NT.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate and Community Services, this position will establish and manage Night Patrols in the communities of the Victoria Daly Shire Council, including the selection and supervision of the Night Patrol Field Officer and Night Patrol Staff and management of an allocated budget.
As Night Patrol Shire Manager, you will work closely with the communities within the Shire to ensure that Night Patrols meet local community needs. You will also liaise with government and non-government services within communities (including police, health services and safe houses), to develop and implement effective strategies to address community safety issues.
More specifically this will include (but will not be limited to):
- Planning, providing and evaluating case management, counselling, training, referral, community education, anger management and material aid services;
- Developing plans and priorities for future activities and services;
- Developing and maintaining an effective administration system within the program, based on team building principles;
- Facilitating submissions to Government for the development of programs;
- Ensuring that the programs operate in accordance with and give effect to government policies, standards and funding guidelines; and
- Ensuring all appropriate records and reports are maintained in accordance with all legal requirements, Council policies and Government departmental requirements.
Victoria Daly Shire Council are seeking a highly organised and motivated candidate with good interpersonal skills who has the ability to make immediate decisions. Previous experience in a similar position and/or relevant tertiary qualifications is essential, as is a possession of a current driver's licence.
This position requires a candidate with a working knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety Regulations coupled with relevant industry knowledge in the fields of alcohol and other drugs case management, counselling, training, referral, community education and anger management services, and the provision of material aid.
Given the managerial nature of this role, you will be an experienced team leader with a demonstrated background in strategic planning and budget control.
The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to travel frequently throughout this picturesque region. Travel may take the form of day and weekly trips, sometimes via light aircraft.
The Night Patrol Manager will be rewarded with a competitive salary circa $71,389 - $76,052 + 9% superannuation, salary sacrifice options to increase the value of your take-home pay, and a vehicle for both work and personal use.
