About the Organisation
The Victoria Daly Shire Council became an entity on the 1st July 2008 through the amalgamation of 8 Northern Territory community councils covering an area of 168,000sqkm an area, approximately twice the size of Tasmania. Council's aim is to strengthen its communities with local people delivering shire services to their own communities with the skills and knowledge of their own culture, community and people.
Victoria Daly Shire is less than a year old, so Council currently recruiting people who share their vision to help develop the brand new organisation.
About the Projects
The Community Development Employment Projects (CDEP) provides community managed activities that develop participants' skills and employability in order to assist their move into employment. These activities also make a valuable contribution to the community and can lead to the development of business enterprises. The overall aim is to support Indigenous Australians to achieve economic independence.
CDEP has been developed to:
- Build individual skills and capacity to take up work where opportunities arise;
- Provide on-the-job work experience;
- Provide voluntary mobility assistance;
- Build capacity of communities including through supporting priority projects; and
- Build capacity of local Indigenous organisations to deliver a range of services, including other employment services such as the Indigenous Employment Program (IEP).

About the Opportunity
Victoria Daly Shire Council has an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader to join their Community Development Employment Projects (CDEP) in Daguragu/Kalkarindgi.
The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise the day to day operations of CDEP programs, ensuring participants receive a high standard of employment and training to support community based projects and tasks.
More specifically this will include (but will not be limited to):
- Ensuring the effective implementation and completion of CDEP projects;
- Supervising employees and inspecting project works;
- Providing supervision and human resource support to employees;
- Ensure accountability of all CDEP tools, plant and equipment;
- Maintaining a safe working environment.

Within this role, your working day will be infused with variety as you become involved in a diverse range of community projects. From starting market gardens to promoting work experience opportunities, this position will see you interacting with program participants, supporting their skill development and helping them to achieve their goals.
The successful candidate will have experience in a cultural environment, with the demonstrated ability to develop training and employment programs.
In addition, you will have the proven ability to work under pressure and will take an original approach to challenges to find innovative solutions. Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity will be vital.
Computer literacy and a current driver's licence is also essential for this role.

The Community Services Team Leader will be rewarded with a competitive starting salary circa $50,559 - $54,056 + 9% superannuation. You will also be eligible to receive relocation assistance up to $5,000!
