Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology services the Brisbane metropolitan area and regional areas extending as far north as Cairns and south to Coffs Harbour.

About the Opportunity

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is seeking a number of part time Pathology Specimen Collectors to work as part of the Patient Services Team in Coffs Harbour.

The main aim of this role is to primarily collect pathology specimens. You will also be required to record patient information, attend to the well-being of patients, receive account payments and liaise with referrers and ancillary services. The position will also entail some specimen reception duties and data entry.

Some of the more specific responsibilities of the position will include:

• Performing all tasks relevant to a particular collection shift or collection site as specified in the pathology collection manuals;
• Upholding quality standards within the laboratory by adhering to departmental quality system procedures;
• Cooperating with work colleagues, referrers and their patients, and ancillary services to assist with the provision of reliable and efficient services levels;
• Participating in in-service training as appropriate and training other staff;
• Performing special duties to contribute to the implementation of the strategic plan and to the effective functioning of a specific section, laboratory or organisation as a whole; and
• Complying with the occupational health and safety policy and programs to ensure personal health and safety.

The ideal candidate will have a high level of written and verbal communication skills, along with dedication to excellent customer service and continuous improvement. You will also be computer literate, and preferably have some experience in data entry.

You must also be able to work independently as well as in a team, and demonstrate the ability to perform tasks in a timely manner. Applicants must have a current driver's licence and a First Aid certificate.

Candidates with pathology specimen collection or venepuncture experience will be held in high regard, although this is definitely not essential. Please note that Sullivan Nicolaides is an accredited Registered Training Organisation, and upon completion of training, collectors receive a nationally recognised Certificate III in Pathology Specimen Collection.

You will work 30 hours per week across various areas, and must be available to work shifts between 7.00am and 7.00pm, Monday to Friday, and participation in the Saturday morning roster.

The high level of service provided by Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is delivered by a dedicated staff comprising of pathologists, scientists, technicians, laboratory assistants, collection personnel, couriers, computer personnel, pathology services assistants and other support staff. An attractive hourly rate, circa $17.20, will be offered to each successful applicant. (Please note this is not a Courier role.)
