Action For Community Living is a Victorian-based community organisation of people with disabilities formed to advocate for community living for all people with disabilities by providing support to pursue their rights. The core work of Action for Community Living is the provision of statewide, independent systemic and individual advocacy for people with disability around a broad range of issues.
Action for Community Living works to eliminate the structural and societal barriers that prevent full participation by people with disabilities in all areas of community life and to promote their voice and leadership at all levels of decision-making and policy development.

About the Opportunity
Action For Community Living is seeking a dedicated Chief Executive Officer to provide overall leadership to their team, based in Northcote.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, this is a pivotal, multi-faceted role in which the successful applicant will provide direction and leadership towards the achievement of the organisation's philosophy, mission and strategy, goals and objectives.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Leadership of the organisation's management team;
- Working closely with the Manager, Individual Advocacy to coordinate the Advocacy program;
- Representing the Advocacy program on external industry committees and networks;
- Providing support, feedback and recommendations to the Action For Community Living Board of Management, and ensuring effective management of the organisation;
- Managing relations with external stakeholders such as the government, funding and philanthropic bodies, industry sector partnerships local communities, members, the media and the public;
- Overseeing income generation for the organisation and playing a lead role in the development and implementation of a business and strategic plan for each program;
- Ensuring systems are in place to manage contract compliance with all grants, and that appropriate monitoring and acquittal systems are in place and working; and
- Overseeing fundraising planning and implementation with all Programs, including identifying resource requirements, researching funding sources, establishing strategies to approach funders, submitting proposals and administrating fundraising records and documentation.
Essentially, you will play a critical role in driving the continued success of a well respected organisation, developing effective strategies and inspiring a high performance team to achieve their vision.
To succeed in this pivotal role, you will have qualifications and/or relevant experience in management or a related discipline. Your management skills will demonstrate your ability to manage the financial, human resources, facilities and administrative functions of an organisation in the community / disability sector. You will have the ability to manage within a complex environment, with multiple funding sources and programs delivered within the community, while at the same time ensuring the continued provision of quality output.
The successful applicant will have a proven record in the advocacy and promotion of human rights for marginalised and disadvantaged citizens, with experience in working the levers of government policy and funding. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the demonstrated ability to apply these skills with a diverse range of stakeholders (staff, government representatives, community organisations, media and members of the public) are vital.
Ability to travel statewide and interstate is essential, as is a high level of computer literacy.
