It is located at the start of the Highlands Highway which is the main land transport corridor from the Highlands region to the coast. About the Opportunity
Due to continued growth, UMW Niugini has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Rebuild Facility Manager to join their team in Lae, Papua New Guinea.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the safe, economic and efficient maintenance operations for the UMW workforce employed to carry out minor and major component overhauls in the rebuild facility.
This pivotal role will be based around Komastu REMAN equipment.
Some of your specific responsibilities will be to:
- Ensure all OEM recommendations are being adhered to with regard to all minor and major components;
- Coordinate and carry out component rebuilds to meet customer demand;
- Coordinate and assist in development of UMW training programs to suit REMAN needs;
- Ensure QA procedures are put in place, actioned, monitored and reviewed;
- Manage all UMW inventory under your control to company policy;
- Ensure all jobs are correctly costed in Project Costing and processed correctly;
- Develop and implement all work flow processes to ensure smooth running of the REMAN Department;
- Carry out regular workshop safety inspections/observations and report as required;
- Review the monthly key performance indicators including costs equipment availability and maintenance statistics and make recommendations for improvements where required; and
- Report on facility performance against KPA's on a monthly basis.
The successful applicant will come from a Mechanical Trade or Engineering background, with 10 years experience in equipment dealing, specifically with REMAN equipment. You will have experience in a similar managerial position, with the communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with personnel from all levels of the company.
UMW is looking for an analytical, strategic thinking and resourceful applicant with the ability to plan ahead and meet deadlines and budgets. Candidates must speak and write fluent English, have the ability to liaise with international contractors and have strong abilities with Pronto, Microsoft Word and Excel.
The organisation requires someone who is willing to take on a residential role, where you will be living and working in PNG, and who is confident in training a semi-skilled PNG workforce in a new facility.

An attractive salary package circa AU$157,000 will be negotiable based on experience. You will also be eligible for performance based bonuses!
