About the Opportunity
STEPS has an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated Employment Pathway Mentor to join its team in Bundaberg, QLD.
The main aim of this role is to engage and retain job seekers/workers with disability, injury or health condition through the provision of individual and tailored services to achieve sustainable employment.
Some of the key responsibilities of this role will be to:
- Work with job seekers to ascertain and understand their needs, values, skills and job preferences/choices using Person Centered Planning, skills assessments and vocational counselling;
- Develop, implement, monitor and review an individual, tailored Employment Pathway Plan (EPP) for each job seeker detailing positive intervention strategies and pathways;
- Provide job seekers with facilitated job search training and assistance;
- Liaise with the Employer Engagement Consultant/s to promote job seekers to employers and obtain information regarding vacancies;
- Provide post placement support to workers on-the-job; and
- Consult regularly with the employer and provide co-worker training to assist transition into the workplace.
The successful candidate requires a qualification (Certificate IV minimum) in Disability Work, Employment Services, Training and Assessment (TAA) or related field OR an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
STEPS is looking for a people-person with experience working in the Disability, Vocational Rehabilitation and/or Employment Services fields and proven experience in managing a diverse caseload, with demonstrated ability to initiate and implement customised and innovative strategies to achieve outcomes.
You will require strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build rapport and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders. You will also demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm for addressing unexpected new challenges at short notice; have an ability to work well under pressure, take responsibility and act with integrity and in a professional manner.
Also required are sound computer and administration skills, with the ability to maintain both computer and paper based records and an ability to exercise initiative and work both independently and as part of a team.
A current C class driver's licence, and Working with Children blue card check are essential.
