About the Opportunity

Due to continued growth, a fantastic opportunity exists for a talented Occupational Health & Safety Manager to take the next step in their career by joining Becon Constructions' team based in Hallam.

The primary purpose of this highly autonomous role will be to actively manage occupational health and safety including the management systems, policies and procedures whilst providing expert assistance, guidance and direction to the staff.

You will ensure the continued compliance with AS 4801, undertake regular training needs analysis and manage internal audit programs and record keeping, and liaise with all regulatory authorities including Work Cover and develop and maintain a network of peer contacts within the broader OH&S community.

More specifically, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Continued Development and Implementation of the OH&S Management Safety System;
  • Auditing and reporting on the Injury Management System to Senior Management;
  • Providing assistance, guidance and direction to the staff in relation to all OH&S matters;
  • Developing and conducting Occupational Health and Safety Training Programs;
  • Monitoring relevant Legislation and Standards and Develop Strategies to Ensure Organisational Compliance;
  • Conducting investigations into workplace incidents in partnership with the Construction Manager, Directors and Work Safe inspectors;
  • Managing rehabilitation and return to work programs; and
  • Maintaining compliance and system records.

The successful applicant will have relevant qualifications and/or equivalent skills and knowledge in OH&S. You will also require significant practical experience with demonstrated strong leadership skills, including the ability to ensure compliance with legislation, standards, directives, policies and procedures.

In addition you will also have previous experience in the building and construction industry as well as audit experience.

Importantly, you must be self-motivated and an excellent communicator, able to liaise with subcontractors, clients, staff and management, and with outstanding skills in managing time effectively.
