About the Opportunity
Thamarrurr Development Corporation Ltd (TDC) has an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated Hairdresser to operate a small hairdressing salon, while delivering training programs where qualified and performing administrative duties in support of training activities. This full time position is based in Wadeye.
Reporting to the CEO, some of the key responsibilities of this diverse and rewarding role will be to:
- In conjunction with the course trainer, mentor all course participants in the skills as set by the company, or other nominated body (by the company) by means of personal instruction and demonstration;
- Perform training and administrative duties and tasks;
- Maintain established paper based filing/records systems in accordance with set procedures, including creating/indexing new files, distributing files within the organisation as requested, monitoring/evaluating files;
- Evaluate and monitor Student Progress, pre, during and post course, including the development of all curriculum and evaluative processes as required;
- Train other employees in the skills of training; and
- Contractor liaison as requested.
Your working week will be divided up into three days managing the operation of the hairdressing salon and two days supervising and mentoring students who are in training to become hairdressers. The official hairdresser training will be conducted by a trainer, delivered through the local school.
To be eligible to apply for this role, the successful candidate will have a relevant hairdressing trade qualification/s and ideally have industry experience, although recent graduate hairdressers are also encouraged to apply.
TDC is looking for an individual who is able to lead and mentor hairdressing trainees in the workplace. From this point of view you will need to be a people-person with the ability to build positive relationships. Experience of working with traditional Aboriginal people will also be highly regarded.
A NT ‘C' Class Drivers License or equivalent is desirable.
