About the Opportunity
Lifeline Community Care QLD (LCCQ) and Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland (LDDSWQ) have an exciting opportunity for a number of full-time and part-time Financial Counsellors to join their professional and dedicated teams, in various locations in Cairns, Townsville, Roma, Mt Isa, Kingaroy, Toowoomba and Maryborough.
As expanding organisations, LCCQ and LDDSWQ are seeking experienced and qualified Counsellors to provide financial counselling assistance, advocacy and information to clients and the local community in relation to managing financial difficulties.
LCCQ and LDDSWQ are primarily looking for qualified Financial Counsellors, but a limited number of opportunities will be available for Trainees to undertake training, offering an outstanding chance to kickstart your career with a well respected community service agency.
Working as part of an innovative counselling team, your core responsibilities will include:
- Providing financial counselling, delivery of a high quality service and maintaining clients' privacy and confidentiality at all times;
- Assessing individual client's financial situations and providing information on possible options;
- Negotiating with creditors, advocacy and assisting in the completion of paperwork and referring clients to other agencies as required;
- Collecting and maintaining information on the Client Information System;
- Conducting community education workshops; and
- Developing effective feedback mechanisms for the purpose of reviewing and improving services to ensure all program target areas are met.
Applicants for the experienced Financial Counsellor position need to hold the Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling) and a current membership of FCAQ.
Applicants for these positions need to demonstrate:
- Strong communication skills with people from diverse backgrounds including aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Strong Networking skills
- Ability to adhere to privacy and confidentiality requirements, maintain files and records.
You will have a patient and empathic demeanour, with highly evolved team participation skills. LCCQ and LDDSWQ are looking for applicants committed to personal and professional development. Applicants will also be required to have a current Working with Children Bluecard, as well as a willingness to undergo a criminal history check.
The successful applicants will enjoy a competitive remuneration package, in the range of $46,000 - $48,500 (Trainees $41,000 - $45,000). LCCQ and LDDSWQ also offer generous salary packaging to maximise your take home pay.
