Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE (MSIT) commenced operation on 1 July 2006, incorporating the Institutes of Yeronga, Logan, and Moreton (non trade) and is committed to creating a leading, internationally recognised centre of learning in collaboration with its business partners and clients.

MSIT currently offers over 400 programs with an approximate budget of $70M, with 720 full time employees working across 9 sites in the southern Brisbane region.

About the Opportunity

Due to the continued growth of the Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE (MSIT), the organisation has an opportunity for a full time Programmer to join their team on Brisbane's Southside.

Based at Mt Gravatt, you will be required to travel across MSIT's 9 Southside campuses as part of your duties. The position is available on a full time 12 month contract, with the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Manager, Information, Communication and Technology, the primary aim of this role is to develop and maintain an enhanced system of flexible educational and administrative resources to improve the business processes of MSIT and its clients. This programming work will support the implementation of business transformation roadmap initiatives.

Within this varied role, your more specific duties will be to:

  • Research and analyse client needs in order to develop software requirements;
  • Develop web pages, database, and multi-media applications using web development software;
  • Implement software requirements using a variety of technologies;
  • Develop and maintain relational databases and applications;
  • Perform tasks in Microsoft SQL, including developing and maintaining DTS packages, stored procedures and server replication;
  • Perform final testing of programs for clients and demonstrate program deliverables to ensure client satisfaction;
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplined team towards the development of flexible online educational and administrative resources;
  • Provide necessary training and skills transfer to staff on new systems initiatives and/or to improve user awareness and the effective use of systems; and
  • Maintain a high level of client satisfaction in the services offered by the IT team.

The successful applicant will have a solid theoretical knowledge of IT programming, and 12-24 months experience would be beneficial. Qualifications in IT are desirable - MSIT will consider entry level graduates, preferably with some vocational placement.

You will be working extensively with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, and within a .net framework development platform and associated IDE's (using Visual Studio 2008), so knowledge of these systems is vital. Experience and skills with Internet Information Server, AJAX, JavaScript, XML and HTML/CSS would also be an advantage.

You will have demonstrated experience in developing software solutions for business, and documenting each stage of the software development lifecycle. Additionally, you will need the ability to develop and implement software solutions to meet educational and administrative needs. MSIT is seeking an applicant with highly developed time management skills, the ability to prioritise and well developed communication skills.

The successful candidate will be rewarded with an attractive salary circa $56,989 to $63,830 per annum plus 12.75% super. This package provides you with excellent flexible salary sacrificing options.
