About the Opportunity
Due to expansion, Metcon is searching for a Technical Sales Manager - Ontario to join their growing team in Concord in this newly created role.
The primary purpose of this technical sales role is to prepare and implement strategic plans and manage a sales team to achieve and continue established growth. You will be responsible for overall sales revenues, targets, and key performance indicators.
Working directly with the President, some of the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Leading, developing, and managing a team of ten inside and outside sales representatives;
- Developing a sales and marketing strategy in order to expand the existing customer base;
- Developing technical sales initiatives geared towards improving the effectiveness of the sales team;
- Contributing towards the area technical sales plan and reviewing technical sales initiatives;
- Managing and providing pre-sales technical support, occasionally providing assistance in sales presentations;
- Working with marketing to define new products and evaluating trade shows;
- Identifying key areas of opportunity to improve client satisfaction;
- Being able to read engineering drawings;
- Developing and implementing a strategic plan to expand the customer base and create business opportunities;
- Ensuring the sales representatives have correct selling skills to maximize results;
- Motivating and coaching the sales team to enthusiastically and effectively support promotions, tactics and strategy;
- Making regular and consistent contact with customers to maximize client satisfaction;
- Using their technical expertise to maintain a line of communication with design engineering on issues such as considerations and product reliability.
This role is ideal for an individual with an Engineering degree, backed up by successful sales and sales management experience that would like to use their expertise and technical knowledge to drive business growth. You will have a minimum of 5 years sales management experience in a technical field.
Candidates with a proven track record of demonstrating leadership in driving sales teams to increase revenue through expanding and maintaining a client base will be highly regarded. You will have the ability to lead, supervise and manage a sales team.
You will need to be a hard-working team player who is self-motivated and results-orientated, with strong communication skills. In addition, you will possess strong relationship building skills and business acumen. Due to the nature of this role, some overnight travel will be required.
