About the Opportunity

If you are an enthusiastic and skilled Mental Health Services Advisor who thrives in challenging and new environments, STEPS Disability has an exciting opportunity for you to contribute to the success of the Executive team, based in Maroochydore!

Reporting directly to the Mental Health Services Manager, the main aim of this vital and varied role is to provide comprehensive advisory support and apply specialist knowledge to the implementation, maintenance and improvement of services provided to people with a mental illness to optimise outcomes.

Some of your specific duties will include:

  • Developing and maintaining a high level of understanding of contract/s, partnership agreements and associated material within the defined speciality;
  • Providing advice and recommendations to stakeholders on issues relating to service delivery strategies;
  • Coordinating and undertaking audit activities to review the effectiveness of the service delivery against contract/partnership requirements;
  • Researching, analysing and reporting on performance against crital control points and associated benchmarks; and
  • Developing and delivering strategies to educate and train staff to reinforce service strategies and best practice to achieve effective outcomes for people with a mental illness.

Ideally, the successful applicant will hold tertiary qualifications in Certificate IV in Disability Services or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

In addition, you will have detailed knowledge of issues relevant to people with a mental illness and a minimum of 3 years experience working in the Mental Health Field.

Experience in training and public presentations as well as analysing audit and performance data and developing recommendations would be an advantage.

This role will suit a flexible, hard-working individual with a passion for and focus on addressing unexpected and new challenges at short notice. You will possess outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills in order to support effective communication with internal and external staff/clients as well as excellent time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure, take responsibility and act with integrity.

Your demonstrated ability to apply project management skills and think critically, logically and creatively while taking initiative will ensure your success in this position.

Accurate word and database processing skills and a broad knowledge of a range of computer packages, including, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Email and the Internet is essential to this role.

Applicants will be subject to a Criminal History Check prior to employment and must hold a current 'Working with Children' Blue Card and class 'C' driver's licence.
