PRA has an exciting opportunity for an Employment Consultant to join their Disability Employment Services team (DES) based in Redfern.
The main aim of this position will be to directly assist people whom are recovering from psychiatric illness, with the goal of them achieving independent, meaningful employment.
More specifically, you will be required to:
- Provide assessment and effective case management to job seekers to develop and implement individually tailored employment plans;
- Assist job seekers to develop workplace skills in order to gain sustainable employment;
- Advise job seekers of labour market opportunities;
- Engage job seekers to promote active participation in the community by addressing social and vocational barriers to employment;
- Maintain concise and up to date information on individual clients; and
- Work as part of a high performing team to meet negotiated performance/outcome targets.
To be considered for this role, candidates must have knowledge of, or experience working in the mental health and/ or disability employment field, and will consequently hold an understanding of current employment issues relating to people with a disability.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Behavioural Science, Social Work, Disability, Community Services or a related discipline will be advantageous, but are not essential. In addition, you will require excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to communicate effectively with job seekers.
