About the Organisation
Mallee Family Care was established 30 years ago and is one of the largest community organisations in regional Victoria. The organisation provides a range of programs to the communities of North-Western Victoria, South-Western New South Wales and the Riverland.
Broadly defined, Mallee Family Care serves approximately one fifth of Victoria in geographical terms. Over the years Mallee Family Care has experienced an exciting period of growth in a range of services along with staff numbers, volunteer support and infrastructure needs.
As a consequence, the work of Mallee Family Care has expanded to include a broad range of innovative services which recognise and respond to social disadvantage and the development of stronger, more caring communities. These services incude: Family Support, Out of Home Care Programs, Psychiatric Disability, Rehabilitation and Support Services, Financial Counselling, Community Legal Services, Disability Programs and Child Contact Services for children referred by the Family Court.

About the Opportunity
Due to recent expansion the Murray Mallee Community Mental Health Service has an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Manager to join their talented and dedicated team in Mildura.
In this role, you will be directly responsible for the Mental Health Family and Carer Resource Project in which you will provide support and supervision of the Murray Mallee Community Mental Health Services three team leaders. You will essentially be helping the organisation to support people with a mental illness and their families to fully participate in the community.
More specifically, some of your duties will include:
- Supervising and supporting staff in the delivery of safe, educative and quality experiences for families, individuals and service providers;
- Assisting in all aspects of service provision including service implementation, service delivery and evaluation activities;
- Providing leadership, direct support and supervision to the team leaders of the Psychosocial Day Program, Home Based Services and Personal Helpers and Mentor Program;
- Designing programs appropriate to meeting the needs of the community;
- Assisting in the appointment of staff, staff performance reviews, disciplinary procedures and exit interviews;
- Working in partnership and liaising with stakeholders to ensure professional services are delivered throughout the catchment areas;
- Assisting in the management of resources through the efficient coordination of staff; and
- Monitoring the preparation of all data, supervising the preparation of reports and ensuring accountability requirements are satisfied.
To be successful for this position you will hold an accreditated relevant qualification (i.e. Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology, Diploma of Community Welfare or equivalent) as well as experience working in senior management within a family and community service organisation. In addition, you will have experience and an understanding of the issues impacting on people with a mental illness in the community, their families and carers.
Successful candidates will require well developed report writing, presentation and negotiation skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of people. Candidates who have experience working with Indigenous communities will be held in high regard, but this is not essential.
Applicants will be required to have a current driver's licence, a willingness to undertake travel and be accommodated overnight when the situation requires it. Mallee Family Care also requires all employees to undertake a Police and Working with Children check.
