About the North Burnett Region
The North Burnett region lies approximately four hours drive from Brisbane and one hour west of Bundaberg. The region encompasses six main townships - Biggenden, Eidsvold, Gayndah, Monto, Mt Perry and Mundubbera which service around twenty-five villages and farming catchments.
The area has a diverse range of locations including rural townships, beautiful lakes and dams, heritage and other tourist attractions. The area also boasts many educational, medical and sporting and recreational facilities.
About the Opportunity
North Burnett Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for a Manager of Environment & Compliance to join its dedicated team based in Gayndah.
The primary purpose of this role will be to lead a team in the efficient delivery of environmental, public health and natural resource management services.
More specifically, some of your duties will include:
- Managing the Council's Environment and Compliance Unit;
- Providing the Council with professional advice on all environment, health and compliance matters;
- Developing and implementing of environment and health strategies;
- Recruiting, training and supervising staff in your section; and
- Ensuring a high standard of customer service is maintained.
To be successful in this position, you will require relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health as well as significant experience in a similar position. You will require a demonstrated knowledge of Environmental and Health Legislation in addition to a knowledge of regulatory enforcement responsibilities.
Ideally, you will also be familiar with current and relevant natural resource management issues.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with people from all sectors of the government and community. You will have the ability to prepare reports for the Council as well as being well organised in relation to your time limits and workload. You will also be required to use business related application software, so a high level of computer literacy, specifically in Microsoft Office, is essential.
In return for your dedication, North Burnett Regional Council will provide you with an attractive salary circa $70,000-$85,000, commensurate with skills and experience, plus super and salary sacrifice options!
