About the Opportunity
Centacare Townsville has an excellent opportunity for a number of Case Managers to join their team in Mount Isa, working within the Centacare Homelessness Service.
Centacare Homelessness Service offers both a homelessness early intervention and crisis intervention service/s to families and individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Within this role, you will provide appropriate support to enable individuals and or families to obtain and/or maintain their current accommodation and improve their ability to ensure a safe and stable home life. Centacare Homelessness Service also operates as a walk-in centre for people who are experiencing difficulty in obtaining accommodation by offering crisis intervention support.
Some of your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Providing flexible service delivery which will ensure support for families living in private and public housing to remain in independent accommodation;
- Establishing and maintaining strong links with other existing service providers and agencies, including real estate agents, local Department of Housing and Homelessness, Centrelink, Legal services, ITAAS, Housing providers, Drug and Alcohol Services and local schools;
- Strength based and holistic case management framework incorporating a broad and integrated service that is flexible, intensive, comprehensive and directed towards empowering individuals and families – clients being active partners in the process;
- Developing, maintaining, implementing and reviewing case plans for clients; and
- Actively participating in the process of professional supervision.
Centacare is seeking a candidate who holds a tertiary degree (or equivalent experience) in Social Work, Psychology or Behavioural Sciences, as well as demonstrated experience in working with individuals and families in a primary setting. You will need practical knowledge of case work/management approaches and theoretical frameworks for practice. Additionally, you will need knowledge and understanding of the issues associated with homelessness, especially in indigenous communities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with a culturally diverse clientele, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people. Your skills in written and verbal communication will be highly developed, and you will have the ability to work effectively both unsupervised and in a team environment.
The ideal applicant will also have strong problem-solving, negotiation and team-work skills, effective time keeping abilities, and knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements in the workplace.
You will be required to hold a current driver's licence, and must have, or be willing to obtain, a Working with Children Blue Card and a Disability Services Positive Notice Card.

An attractive salary of $42,655 - $50,108 is on offer (with options to boost your income further through salary sacrifice), as well as a Remote Allowance of $5,000 p.a.
