The organisation provides emergency, short term and medium term residential care, with individual programs developed and implemented for each young person. Premier Youthworks has developed a record and reputation for positive, robust and effective service delivery to young people in Out-of-Home care in NSW and ACT, and the service is currently undertaking the process of Accreditation with the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian.
About the Opportunity
Premier Youthworks has an exciting full-time opportunity for two Psychologists to join their professional teams, one in Newcastle and one in Canberra.
Positions exist for Psychologists with clinical experience or for Interns, who will be supported through registration by the organisation!
Working in a Residential Care environment with high-needs clients, the purpose of these positions is to provide specialist psychological and clinical/intervention advice and services to clients. You will also provide associated training to clients, their families, staff and other relevant stakeholders.
More specifically, you will provide:
- Assessment of a client’s presenting clinical issues and support needs, and identification of appropriate matching models of service delivery;
- Expert assistance to develop strategies and guide and monitor clients' implementation and the outcomes;
- Risk assessments in relation to support needs and behaviour; and
- Staff training specific to the assessment and management of client need and challenging behaviour to carers / staff.
The successful applicants will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology, and demonstrated experience in the area of needs assessment, planning and behaviour intervention. Knowledge and understanding of trauma and abuse, child and adolescent mental health, brain injury, mental health, disability, alcohol and other drug-related issues are preferred. Expreienced Psychologists will have a background in providing advice, professional opinions and judgements on clinical issues affecting young people, with support needs and with challenging/offending behaviour.
Importantly, you will be an enthusiastic, caring and understanding team player, with strong communication and computer skills and significant abilities in conflict resolution and mediation. You will have the capacity to develop, deliver and evaluate staff training, with skills in investigation, analysis and problem solving. A current driver's licence is essential.
Both successful applicants will have the opportunity to travel between Newcastle and Canberra for training and support.

In return for your dedication, you will be rewarded with competitive remuneration $60,000 - $75,000, negotiable on your experience and qualifications!
