About the Organisation

Mallee Family Care was established 30 years ago and is one of the largest community organisations in regional Victoria. The organisation provides a range of programs to the communities of North-Western Victoria, South-Western New South Wales and the Riverland.

Broadly defined, Mallee Family Care serves approximately one fifth of Victoria in geographical terms. Over the years Mallee Family Care has experienced an exciting period of growth in a range of services along with staff numbers, volunteer support and infrastructure needs.

As a consequence, the work of Mallee Family Care has expanded to include Family Support Services, Out of Home Care Programs, Psychiatric Disability, Rehabilitation and Support Services, Financial Counselling, Community Legal Services, Disability Programs and Contact Services for children referred by the Family Court.

About the Opportunity 

Mallee Family Care has an exciting opportunity for a Post Separation Cooperative Parenting (PSCOP) Practitioner (Social Worker) to join their talented and dedicated team.

The Post Separation Cooperative Parenting program aims to assist separated parents who are in conflict to learn how to focus on the needs of their children.

Reporting to the Family Relationship Services Team Leader, this role aims to deliver the Post Separation Cooperative Parenting program in the Northern Mallee through the provision of the following services:

  • Community Education;
  • Individual and/or joint Counselling;
  • Coaching;
  • Mentoring; and
  • Support and referral within a case management environment.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and delivering post separation cooperative parenting seminars;
  • Providing a range of post separation interventions;
  • Coordinating the service delivery for separated families within a case management framework, ensuring appropriate supports are available and are responsive to the needs of children in families;
  • Providing services which are culturally responsive and address issues relating to violence and other complex social issues;
  • Maintaining appropriate case records, reports and statistical data and comply with agency policies and procedures; and
  • Participating in the development of service models, strategies and evaluation including contributing to the development of programs appropriate to the specific needs of clients.

To apply for this key position it is essential you hold a relevant qualification in community welfare practice (i.e. Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology or equivalent.), combined with demonstrable experience from working within the Human Service sector. In addition, Mallee Family Care also asks applicants to have experience in case management and in community development initiatives. Candidates without relevant experience will not be considered.

The suitable applicant will have a broad understanding of relevant legislative requirements as they relate to this field of practice, for example, Child Support and Family Violence. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to mediate with a wide range of people. 

Applicants will be required to have a current driver's licence, a willingness to undertake travel and be accommodated overnight when the situation requires it. Mallee Family Care requires all employees to undertake a Police and Working with Children check.
