About the Opportunity
MacDonnell Shire Council has an exciting opportunity for a Shire Services Manager to oversee staff and services in the remote MacDonnell Shire.
Reporting to the Area Manager Shire Service Delivery, the primary responsibility of this position is to provide a high standard of community services, supporting the health and well being of the community.
More specifically this will include (but will not be limited to):
- Managing delivery of core and non-core services provided by the Shire Service Delivery Centres;
- Maintaining Shire assets used to deliver services and oversee maintenance of an asset register;
- Providing accurate and timely service delivery reports;
- Participating in the development of the Shire's Strategic and Business Plans;
- Supervising and monitoring all staff in performance of duties; and
- Monitoring and regulating budgets.
This is a leadership position and accordingly, the successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in successfully managing a range of service delivery activities and programs in a collaborative manner. Ideally, you will have an appropriate tertiary qualification and/or significant relevant experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of the Indigenous Australian Culture.
A proven ability to lead, manage and develop staff from a range of backgrounds and in cultural context will also be pivotal to your success in gaining this position. Experience in working in remote communities, and specifically in consulting and negotiating sensitively and effectively with Indigenous people, is vital.
This role requires an applicant with strong personal integrity, well developed oral and written communication skills and a high level of self-motivation. Applicants with a track record of solving problems analytically and strategically will be viewed favourably. A current driver's licence is required.

The Shire Services Manager will be rewarded with a competitive salary circa $67,000 - $78,000 + 9% superannuation plus salary sacrifice options to increase the value of your take-home pay.
You will also be provided with a furnished house for $25 per week - all you'll need to bring is your own linen and favourite cooking equipment! In addition, to help you make the transition to this remote community, a relocation allowance will be negotiable.
