NPA Family and Community Services ATSI Corporation is a government funded, not for profit organisation situated in the scenic town of Bamaga at the very tip of Cape York Peninsula.

The organisation is focused on reducing the levels of family violence in the area, as well as improving the status and self-esteem of the community's indigenous residents. The organisation also addresses social issues and problems of domestic and family violence, child abuse and child neglect, drug and alcohol abuse, youth suicide, youth crime, teenage pregnancy and family conflicts.

About the Opportunity

The NPA Family and Community Services ATSI Corporation has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Program Manager – Health Promotion to join their dedicated team in Bamaga, QLD.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of services of two funded health education programs – Sexual Health Awareness and Chronic Illness Reduction. Your aim will be to assist in the reduction of high statistics in relation to each program, specifically in the Northern Peninsula Area.

More specifically, your duties will be to:

  • Supervise and manage the performance of staff employed in the Health Promotion Unit;
  • Meeting with and training staff to ensure policies, procedures, practice guidelines and client  rules are followed;
  • Coordinating all support services and ensuring their successful delivery under Health Accreditation Quality systems standards and Community Service Standards;
  • Overseeing session plans of staff delivering in the schools to ensure quality practice occurs and that staff follow appropriate education frameworks; and
  • Participating as a team member in delivering culturally appropriate and well planned services to the people of NPA.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in management of staff, working in health services and an understanding of health education practices. Memberships/affiliations with a professional body is preferred, but not required.

Ideally, you will also have experience working with indigenous people, and knowledge of current social and health issues affecting the community, with a particular emphasis on Sexual Health and/or Chronic Illness issues.

In addition, the successful applicant will possess a current driver's licence as well as eligibility for a Children's Commission Working with Children suitability blue card. You must also be willing to undergo a criminal record check.

The successful applicant will enjoy a generous salary circa $70,000 plus super. Furthermore, you will receive reimbursement for up to $3,000 relocation costs to transport yourself and personal items, and fully furnished accommodation in Bamaga for $60 per week.

In reward for your hard work, you will enjoy generous leave provisions, including 4 weeks annual leave, plus 10 days over the Christmas period, and another week remote leave. On top of this, NPA will provide you with $2,000 of airfares p.a. for personal leave and 17.5% leave loading!

Please note, this is a 12 month contract with the possibility of extension.
