About the Opportunities

The Richmond Fellowship of NSW (RFNSW) has exciting opportunities for a full time and casual Community Mental Health Support Workers to join their specialised team in Inner West, Leichhardt.

The full time role will work within the Complex Support team to provide 24 hour, seven days per week support services to clients based in a community home located in Inner West, Leichhardt. Support programs have a focus on, but are not limited to, self-care, social, living, vocational, education/training and community integration/advocacy. Providing support will generally mean enabling people to live as independently as possible within the community.

The casual roles will support the team and they will also assist in offering short-term respite relief within the community.

Your day to day duties may include:

  • Ensuring that the services provided in the various programs are consistent with the aims and objectives of RFNSW, and that services are delivered in accordance with the standards of the National Standards for Mental Health and NSW Disability Services Act;
  • Preparing and maintaining client's file documentation and being accountable for outcomes;
  • Promoting, encouraging and supporting the rights of clients to participate in decision-making at every level of service delivery;
  • Being responsible for managing and planning your own work.

Successful applicants will have a Certificate IV in Mental Health Work (Non-clinical), or be willing to undertake and successfully complete this qualification (or an approved tertiary equivalent). Importantly, you will be a caring and understanding individual, with strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, as well as effective organisational skills, good problem solving skills and the ability to work in challenging situations. You will also be able to demonstrate a practical and optimistic approach, the ability to work effectively within a team environment as well as independently, and have good computer skills.
