About the Opportunity

Mnaamodzawin Health Services Inc. has a fantastic opportunity for Registered Nurses (Mental Health) to join their friendly and dedicated team on Manitoulin Island.

Your goal will be to provide nursing care to individuals, families and communities throughout the five First Nation communities (Aundeck Omni Kaning, Sheguiandah, Sheshegwaning, Whitefish River, and Zhiibaahaasing). This will involve providing mental health services and follow-up on those who are sufferers of a chronic mental illness or who have chronic mental wellness issues. You will provide education to the community on mental illness, and you'll incorporate physical, mental, social and emotional aspects into your daily routine in order to meet the needs of individual families and the community.

To be successful in this position, you will need to have a nurse diploma and be in good standing with The College of Registered Nurses. Specialized health-related experience is essential, as is experience with First Nation communities and knowledge of the Anishnaabe Culture/Customs. An understanding of the needs of chronic mental illness is required, as are strong communication and computer (MS Office) skills.

A valid driver’s license will be necessary as you will be travelling to the First Nation communities. Successful candidates must also be able to pass a security check.
