About the Opportunity
Ostara Australia has an exciting opportunity for an Employment Consultant and a Senior Employment Consultant to join their Disability Employment Services teams (DES).
The Employment Consultant will be based in Sunbury, while the Senior Employment Consultant will be based out of Hawthorne, Vic.
As an Employment Consultant, your primary aim will be to assist people whom are recovering from mental health issues, with the goal of them achieving independent and meaningful employment.
More specifically, you will be required to:
- Provide assessment and effective case management to job seekers to develop and implement individually tailored employment plans;
- Assist job seekers to develop workplace skills in order to gain sustainable employment;
- Advise job seekers of labour market opportunities;
- Engage job seekers to promote active participation in the community by addressing social and vocational barriers to employment; and
- Maintain concise and up to date information on individual clients.
Suitable candidates will have extensive knowledge of, or experience working in the mental health and/or disability employment field, and will consequently hold an understanding of the importance of the role of employment in the mental health recovery process. In these roles, relevant tertiary qualifications in Behavioural Science, Social Work, Disability, Community Services or a related discipline will be highly advantageous, however, are not essential.
To be considered for the Senior Employment Consultant role, you will need solid experience in preparing, placing and supporting people with significant barriers into sustainable employment, meeting placement and outcome targets, as well as an interest in leadership and management of a small team.
As you will be frequently engaging with individuals, colleagues, employers and service providers you will need to be a caring and understanding individual with strong communication and organisational skills, and the ability to mentor and support program participants. You will also require a current Driver's Licence and the ability to maintain working effective relationships with relevant community, employer and referral agencies.
