About the Opportunity
Macfarlane Generators has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Service Technician to join its dedicated team working out of their new Melbourne premises in Clayton South.
Reporting to the Field Service Manager, you will provide service and maintenance to customers' Power Generation equipment.
Within this varied role, some of your more specific duties will include:
- Travelling to customers with use of a company vehicle;
- Adhering to all customer site safety requirements;
- Diagnosing, servicing and repairing power generation equipment;
- Maintaining appropriate paperwork accurately (timesheets, job sheets, load test sheets);
- Maintaining a tidy and workable personal tool kit; and
- Keeping the supplied service vehicle clean, operational and serviced.
Macfarlane Generators is seeking a mechanical person with diesel engine experience and an enthusiastic and self-motivated attitude. You should have completed a minimum of a Mechanical Apprenticeship, or have equivalent practical experience. Power generation experience would also be an advantage.
In addition to your technical know-how, you'll be an excellent communicator with a strong grasp of both written and spoken English and the ability to maintain accurate paperwork and documentation. The successful candidate will always be the 'friendly face' of the company to customers, but you must also be prepared to be flexible to meet customer requirements, including taking home the after hours mobile phone for customer emergencies as required.
This role would suit a local applicant who lives close to the Macfarlane Generators office, and who has previous knowledge of the towns and cities of the metropolitan area and country Victoria. Given you will be spending a lot of your time on the road, you will need to be flexible, able to manage priorities, and effective working unsupervised. A current manual driver's licence is also essential.
