Today Sigma Aerospace supports airlines (regional through to international operators) as well as utility and special mission customers by way of its direct maintenance services (including engine, airframe, avionics and structural repairs), worldwide contract engineering services and inventory management.
Additionally Sigma Aerospace operates a turbine engine overhaul shop (Honeywell Major Service Centre), a state of the art composite repair facility and an aircraft instrument overhaul facility.
About the Opportunity
Due to significant growth, Sigma Aerospace has exciting opportunities for avionics and mechanical Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (LAMEs), Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME) and Maintenance Supervisors to join their Brisbane and Canberra teams in long term contract positions.
The primary purpose of the AME role is to perform aircraft maintenance, repairs and overhaul, and complete the associated documentation in accordance with industry and Sigma Aerospace standards.
In the more senior role of LAME you will be responsible for ‘certifying’ aircraft maintenance, routine or emergency. As a Maintenance Supervisor you will possess demonstrated supervisory experience and be responsible for supervising the maintenance team.
In Brisbane Sigma currently require:
Mechanical and Avionics LAME's with DHC 8 100/200 & 300 series licences. DHC 8 Q400 series licenced personnel are also required. Q400 training will be provided to suitably qualified applicants with demonstrated experience. AME's with DHC 8 experience are also required with immediate starts available.
Two maintenance Supervisors are also required, preferably licenced on Q300/400 however a larger focus is on their demonstrated supervisory experience.
In Canberra Sigma currently require:
Mechanical and Avionics LAME's with DHC 8 Q400 licenses. LAMEs who possess a group 20 licence (737/ATR/DHC 8) or similar and are eligible for fast track PCT training are also encouraged to apply. Q400 training will be provided to suitably qualified applicants with demonstrated experience. AME's with group 20 aircraft experience are also required.
Elsewhere Sigma currently require:
ATR 42/72, 737 Classic, Metro and TPE 331 Mechanical and Avionics LAMEs
As a LAME or Maintenance Supervisor you will preferably have at least 10 years' experience and be interested in further career advancement opportunities within Sigma Aerospace including gaining your Q400 licence.
The ideal candidate will enjoy technical and engineering activities and be comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights on platforms around aircrafts.
Successful applicants will possess strong communication skills with the ability to lead and take responsibility for a team. In order to complete technical maintenance tasks, you will also need to be medically fit, with good hearing, vision and hand eye-coordination.
Immediate starts are available for the right candidates in these full time contract positions. These are long term positions with the candidates expected to relocate, accommodation is provided for up to four weeks to those moving from interstate. International applicants who possess the right to live and work in Australia or are eligible for 457 visas will be considered, particularly those with an ATR licence.
