About the Opportunity

Maranoa Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dedicated HR - Staff Development Liaison Officer to join their friendly and dynamic team in Roma on a full time basis.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager and working with a small but energetic human resources team, this varied role will see you take a leadership role by undertaking the key responsibilities and implementing strategies that will enhance employee satisfaction and retention.

The key responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead the HR Team in the absence of the HR Manager;
  • Lead and coordinate Council’s Leadership Mentoring Program;
  • As the Public Interest Disclosure (PID) Officer oversee and manage Council’s public interest disclosure program;
  • Oversee and analyse Council’s annual Employee Attitude Survey;
  • Establish, encourage and monitor employee communication networks, e.g., newsletters, committees and working groups;
  • Manage the activities in Council’s Employee Assistance Program;
  • Evaluate staff development programs and monitor overall program outcomes against key objectives;
  • Provide support and guidance to employees and managers to integrate learning and development values and principles; and
  • Assist management and employees with Conflict/Dispute Resolution.

To succeed in this role you will possess tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a similar discipline, with demonstrated experience in contemporary human resource management practices. You should be skilled in identifying process deficiencies, developing improvements, documenting recommendations, and implementing smarter and more effective ways of providing better services to employees and the organisation. You will also need a sound understanding of internal communication network strategies such as employee newsletters and functions of employee/management committees.

To be considered, you will possess the ability to effectively communicate with employees from all levels of the organisation. Essential skills are proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, highly developed research, analytical and reporting skills, and the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload.
