About the Organisation

Established in 1992, Rodneys Transport Service Pty Ltd (RTS) is a locally and privately owned transport company. Their primary depot is located in the major regional centre of Wagga Wagga in south western NSW.

Since the company’s formation, they have grown and evolved from a small ‘one man’ operation of just 3 trucks to the modern, well-maintained fleet of 90 trucks with a 24 hour/7day fully automated diesel fuel stop, purpose built service and maintenance facility and almost 4,000sqm of warehouse storage housed on 30acres of land purpose-developed to meet the needs of their expanding company!

Their dedicated staff ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the company with a primary focus on the customer and their needs. Distribution commitments for their valued customers currently extends throughout NSW, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia using trailer equipment ranging from skells (for containers), flat tops, tautliners and bulk, in single and b-double combinations. They have 19 full time administration and logistics staff, all of whom have extensive experience and/or training that is peculiar to this unique industry.

About the Opportunity

Rodneys Transport Service Pty Ltd is currently seeking an Accountant to join their team in Wagga Wagga! This is a full time role, working 8:30am - 5pm Mon - Fri, with some flexibility after the probation period.

Reporting to the Company Accountant, you will primarily be responsible for providing general office duties and financial administrative support to the finance division.

Some of the more specific duties of the role will include (but not be limited to):

  • Providing support in finance functions including: Contractor payments & control, Bank and associated reconciliations, Maintenance of the asset register, associated records and depreciation journals, Monthly expense journals, Clearing account reconciliation and Internal management accounting functions including monthly individual truck profit and loss reports;
  • Providing support in finance associated functions including: Weekly payroll calculations, End of month payroll functions including payroll tax, child support and superannuation guarantee payments, Monthly BAS and IAS calculation and compliance, and Customer invoicing;
  • Provision of back up support during annual and sick leave for other finance team member tasks;
  • Develop and maintain functional working relationships with all company employees, customers and suppliers; and
  • Participation in staff development/training activities and processes.

To be considered for this position you will need tertiary qualifications in a business related discipline, with a major emphasis on accounting subjects. You will also need some workplace accounting experience, and will have (or be able to work towards) studies that achieve your professional accounting status - either a CPA or ICAA.

RTS is looking for an exceptional communicator, who also possesses advanced computer skills, particularly in the use of Excel and the manipulation of spreadsheets. You will also be a demonstrated team player, with the ability to work autonomously as required.

In addition, you will need strong organisational and time management skills, with the demonstrated ability to cope under pressure. Ideally, you will possess a strong work ethic, and will be a professionally presented individual with a flexible and "can do" attitude!

A current driver's licence is essential in this role.

About the Benefits

In return for your hard work, you will receive an attractive salary circa $40,000 - $45,000, negotiable based on experience and skills, plus Super. Relocation assistance is also negotiable for the right applicant!
