About the Organisation

Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHO) situated in Dareton NSW. It provides a range of Medical and Welfare Services to the towns of the Wentworth Shire. It has a high focus on Primary Health Care and Chronic Disease management and employs 2FTE GP’s in the practice. CHAC aims to empower the Aboriginal Community to take control of their individual, family and community health needs.

Dareton is a small town on the Murray River only 20km from Mildura (inside NSW). It offers all the benefits of living and working in a small rural town while having all the added conveniences of a major rural city only 20km away. Mildura boasts a range of excellent shopping centres, cinema, accommodation, and recreation facilities; as well as arrange of both public and private schools in the region. Mildura is easily accessible from Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney with excellent highways and a major airport serviced by Qantas, Virgin and Rex Airlines. Dareton has a population of approximately 2,550 and Mildura has a population of a little over 50,000.

About the Opportunity

Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation has a fantastic opportunity for a full time Practice Manager to join their dynamic team in Dareton, NSW. This position is initailly being offered on a 2 year contract.

Reporting to the CEO, this varied role will have both a financial management and staff management aspect, as you take responsibility for fully supporting the delivery of quality clinical care by practitioners and providing appropriate rewards to the principals, the employees and the patients.

Some of your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring the performance of staff other than practitioners and facilitating staff development and team building;
  • Coordinating the accreditation process;
  • Developing the clinical pathway structure and function;
  • Reviewing the organisational and personnel management function for a team of staff carrying out a range of clerical, technical and professional activities;
  • Developing organisation systems to maximize productivity in the workplace;
  • Developing business plans to meet the objectives of the practice;
  • Maintaining knowledge and complying with government legislation, regulation and contractual obligations and relevant awards; and
  • Continually reviewing of the operating environment of the practice.

Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation is seeking the services of a Registered Nurse, with experience working in either community nursing or a General Practice. You will have high clinical and staff management abilities, and will have demonstrated experience in managing health services and raising Accreditation levels into QIC. Ideally, you will be a Nurse Unit Manager, who has the ability to share their vision and training, to successfully lead a team to achieve outcomes.

The successful candidate will require a broad understanding of the requirements of a business, including skills in accounting and business reporting and the ability to devise and review systems for operational efficiency and control. You will also have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including well developed leadership and team building skills and competency in decision making and problem solving.

In addition, you will require a strong knowledge of relevant legislation and employment conditions as they relate to the role.
