About the Opportunity

The Shire of Halls Creek has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Grants Officer to join their dedicated Halls Creek team.

Reporting to the Deputy CEO, you will be responsible for identifying, sourcing and prioritising grant funding opportunities, monitoring compliance conditions and quantifying grant incomes for the Shire of Halls Creek.  

More specifically, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing high quality grant/subsidy applications for appropriate Community and Council projects/ services to maximise external funding obtained;
  • Developing Quality Assurance procedures relevant to grant applications;
  • Establishing an appropriate database for monthly reporting to monitor the outcome of grant/subsidy applications;
  • Promoting a professional and positive image of the Shire of Halls Creek through excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ensuring all information/documents relating to grants are up-to-date, registered and managed according with the Document Management Plan; and
  • Providing advice, assistance and information to all areas of the organisation on available grants and funding relevant to their activities as required.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in submission and report research, writing and analysis, particularly in relation to funding applications and submissions as well as a proven record of obtaining funding.

You will have a working knowledge of the functions of Local Government and the ability to funding applications following relevant protocols. A related tertiary qualification, knowledge of available grants or experience within a similar role in Local Government would be an advantage.

You will be a highly organised and self-motivated individual with proven analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to think strategically, exercise initiative and use good judgement when required. Good project management, negotiation and conflict resolution skills would be an advantage.

Your strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills will assist you fostering productive relationships with community groups, the Halls Creek community and other staff of the Shire of Halls Creek organisation.

All applicants must strong computer literacy and hold a current Class C driver’s licence.
