About the Opportunity
The Shire of Halls Creek has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Corporate Planning Officer to join their dedicated Halls Creek team.
Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for leading, developing, implementing and managing the implementation of the Shire of Halls Creek integrated strategic planning policy and framework.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing strategic advice and expertise to the CEO, the Management team and key stakeholders across SOHC in the areas of corporate and strategic planning, corporate performance and organisational risk management;
- Providing leadership in the development and implementation of the SOHC integrated strategic planning framework;
- Leading, developing, implementing and managing continuous improvement processes;
- Scoping, managing and implementing and/or contributing expertise to significant corporate projects designed to develop strategies, policies, corporate processes and operational service delivery approaches;
- Actively developing and maintaining effective networks and working relationships within SOHC and various internal and external stakeholders;
- Preparing and presenting comprehensive reports, strategies, progress briefs and submissions relevant to SOHC Creek’s strategic integrated planning framework; and
- Assisting in introducing and reinforcing proper project management procedures throughout the organisation.
The ideal candidate will possess appropriate tertiary qualifications and experience in a relevant field, preferably within a similar position within the local government sector. Although not essential, a Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Project Management, along with established networks relevant to the role will be highly regarded.
To be successful, you will require extensive experience in project management, and will also need a sound knowledge of business management practices, relevant legislation, electronic document records management systems, quality management principles and systems, and OH&S legislation and regulations. Experience in media communications is also desirable.
You will a team player with exceptional management, interpersonal and relationship building skills. As such, you will have the ability to represent the council in public forums and on external committees, the ability to work in a complex, politically sensitive and demanding environment with tight deadlines, and the ability to steer others to task accomplishment.
In addition, you will need demonstrated skills in report writing and submission preparation, and skills and experience in researching, analysing and articulating community needs and developing, implementing and managing community projects.
Applicants must have strong computer literacy (experience in Microsoft Project would be highly regarded) and hold a current WA Class C driver’s licence.
